The HHBC Disaster Relief Ministry immediately responds to any major disaster in the United States by sending out trained and certified disaster relief teams, with all necessary tools and equipment to assist victims in those areas. Our teams specialize in Chainsaw Recovery and Shower Laundry Relief. Unpaid volunteers are the heart of this ministry and the secret to it success. We currently have over 200 volunteers trained to serve.
Shower Laundry Trailer: Hermitage Hills Baptist Church is in the process of developing a Shower and Laundry Unit for disaster relief work. This Unit will be associated with the Tennessee Baptist Convention. A grant was awarded to the church by the Tennessee Baptist Convention to build a trailer with all the necessary equipment and supplies. The expected date of completion is October-November of 2009. Expectations of full deployment in disaster relief work should be no later than November.
The training necessary to participate in this endeavor is the completion of the Intoduction to Disaster Relief course and the Shower and Laundry course. Several people have already been trained, but if others are interested in being a part of this ministry, please contact Joel Walton by email at jjjjwalton@bellsouth.net or by phone at 615-243-8067.
